I make homemade cards and envelopes and I would like to add the pictures to a website like a portfolio, but I need to blur out names and addresses. Is there a certain software program or is it something I can do with a photoshop program?

Yes you can!

Outline the part(s) that you want to stay in focus, and do a "New layer via copy"...then, making sure your backgroud is highlighted, go to the filter menu and choose blur. Then put your copied image(s) on top of that.

You might have to play with it for awhile to get it right...

You should be able to do this in "paint" if you have Microsoft. All you need to do is go to your start button and select programs. You should have an option for accessories then paint. Click file at the top and find your picture file. From there you can "smudge" it with whatever color you want. If you want something more professional you can purchase a specific program but this should be the easiest and something you can play around with now.

if you have photoshop, and you want to blur the image (instead of using bars to block it)

you can simply use the blur tool.

set the pressure between 75 and 100% and drag the pointer over the area you want to blur.

with other programs, you may want to simply make a black line, thick enough to cover the information.

If you have Photoshop, open the image with it and select the area(s) you want to blur then go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and make your adjustments accordingly, click OK and save your image (as a JPEG or whatever...)

If you don't have PhotoShop, download Paint.NET (it's free) and you will be able to accomplish the same thing by going to Effects > Blurs > Gaussian Blur, make your adjustments and click OK, be sure to select the area you want blurred first or else it will blur the entire image. http://www.getpaint.net/ (requires Windows XP SP2 with .Net 2.0 or Windows Vista).
