We found him about 5 months ago, and on average he is pretty healthy. I just noticed that he had a worm crawling out of his bottom. He doesnt throw up (my grown cat did, when she had tapeworms) and I have checked his poo because my grown cat had them in her poo. But the kitten doesnt have them in his poo. But she got really sick, lost weight, and my kitten doesnt. The worm kinda looked like a maggot but would turn flat. What kind of worm could it be??? Thank you.

Actually, those are tapeworms. They get them from swallowing fleas and instead of laying eggs like hookworms, whipworms, and roundworms, they shed off in segments. It takes a special kind of wormer to get rid of those, but you can get it from your local vet. You have to get rid of the fleas or they will get them again.

Those are tapeworm segments - the head of that tapeworm hookes into the intestinal wall. Fleas and tape worm go together becuase cats get tapeworm from ingesting fleas. You need to get rid of the fleas too, not just the tapeworm. There is a very good tapeworm tab now available "over the counter." It is called "Tapeworm Tabs" (for cats and kittens) made by Tradewinds and is available in Petco and Petsmart. They come in small bottles which contain 3 tablets. Read directions for use carefully. You need to weigh your kitten and I wil assume that he will need only 1/2 of a tablet. I used this med for my own cats and they worked. They were also OK'd by my vet. Your other alternative is to have the cats treated by your vet - but that's the expensive route. Don't forget to treat the cat and the environs for fleas becuase f you don't the tapeworms will just come back.

What your pets have tapeworms. The eggs of these parasites are usually transmitted by fleas, feces and uncooked animal remains. There exits several varieties of this parasite, of which cause the feline host no lasting harm, however they should all be eliminated with deworming medication and treatments. There are a few varieties that produce eggs and that can transfer to humans. These can cause life threatening cysts. Once you treat all pets for tapeworms, you will see small dead worms falling out from the rectum. This is normal.

Could be a tapeworm caused by fleas (only one flea is needed to cause the worms). Could also be a number of other worms. Best to take him to a vet and have a fecal check done on him.

Take him to the vet. You'd be suprised at how quickly he'll recover if he only needs treatment for worms. BTW, I think you are describing tapeworms.

I forgot the name but it sounds like the kind they get from eating a flea, which then lays its eggs inside. You need to take a stool sample into the vet and get some medication for it.

Typically cats get tape worms from eating mice or from fleas. If your cat is a natural hunter...then you may have to have him dewormed regularly.

Intestinal worms maybe. I think they are pretty easy to get rid of after one trip to the vet.

If one cat has worms they all do and you don't buy that stuff at pet co or any other place over the counter unless you want them to die. go to the vet and get them wormed with the correct dosage with the correct medicine. please.
