Since I don`t have broadband downloads take to long.So a friend and I were thinking of mailing a compactflash card back and forth for photo sharing. We both have similar cams that use the same card so that`s no problem. But if properly package would xray or anything erase the image.

X-ray will not erase a memory card, but you might want to affix a notice saying "Contains Magnetic Media" and hope that someone pays attention to it. There is generally minimal risk. People used to mail floppy discs in the mail all the time without any problems. I mean, most software was shipped on floppies and, if you ordered this from someone instead of buying it in a store, it came in the mail.

Of course, you should pack it appropriately, using a protective mailer.

CF Cards can be damaged in the mail. I would suggest using bubble wrap or corrugated cardboard to protect it from damage. They won't be harmed by x-rays.
