Many believe that we must remember the death of Jesus Christ as a way to have our sins forgiven and be welcomed into the Kingdom Of Heaven...

But I just think that a wise and loving prophet was tortured and killed by people who aren't very different from those around us today....those that persecute the poor or the helpless....isn't THAT what we shall really be remembering (even by wearing the cross) less history repeats itself, correct? Not why Jesus died...but HOW and WHO persecuted him......honestly we persecute people everyday.....we have to remember that Jesus was preaching the Golden Rule...the simplest truth of all religions.....

I really think that the bible n everything that goes with it is just something for people to believe in.Everyone believes in something.Whatever the higher power is if there really is 1 will come for everyone to know maybe someday. The bible n etc...is something to help control part of the population around the world. That also reminds me that is there was a god wouldn't it b the same 1 everywhere not different in each country u go to.I think that the story was made up to b a good 1 and that he died for us to try n control people in a way.We r what makes our life.We r the ones who make our decisions on to do things or not.If it doesn't happen the way we want then that's life not god or evil for the ones who can't take responsibility for themselves.People use god as an excuse to get out of things or for the reason of the bad behaviour.Well that's just my opinion. We all have 1 and some will agree n some won't.I agree with u though I think that there r many ways to look at that n bcuz someone has said that was the way it went it doesn't mean it really did. That's just what people r trained into believing kinda like any cult n brainwashing lol...anyway have a wonderful wkend.

None of the writings about Jesus mention him preaching a "Golden Rule". In fact some scholars believe that Jesus preached violence against Rome.

The Messiah was supposed to be a warrior leader like David (of Goliath fame) who would be invincible in battle and win freedom for the Jewish people.
Jerusalem was a violent place crushed under the heel of Rome and its people would not have followed a peaceful leader. It was not until almost 50 years later, after yet another violent routing by the Roman army that the mood of the people changed and they started believing in peaceful co-existence.

Not all of his violent preaching was removed from the writings. At the riot Jesus lead at the house of the money exchangers he beat people with a whip. At the last supper he told those of the apostles that did not have a sword to sell their cloaks and purchase one.

No, it is not important WHO persecuted him as WE ALL persecuted him because he died for ALL of us. We need to not only remember WHY he died but we have to personally, each of us as an individual, ACT upon that knowledge and accept his death and resurrection as a gift to us as it is THE ONE AND ONLY WAY to have our sins forgiven and to be welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Yes, I agree. However, Jesus wasnt the first - nor the last - to teach the Golden Rule. So, why should he gets dibs on it?
