Anesthetic use is very tricky with tattooing. Very little help until the skin is broken. Those anesthetics can only be applied like once or twice, otherwise they compete with the ink and the tattoo does not take as well. They don't last long, either.

If you really need to have that, try blue gel from Dermal Source. I use that to tattoo lips and eyes because it is too painful, otherwise.

I would reserve it for when the tattoo is getting the best of you and they apply it to finish. Why not do the outlining and gray shading the first session and then do the color another time?

You would be able to handle that better if you think you will have problems - who knows, though? Many people anticipate the pain to be much worse than it actually ends up being for them.

3 to 4 hours isn't really that bad but if your pain tolerance is very low I wouldn't see why numbing would bother anything. As long as you sit still and your friend knows what she is doing you should be fine. It is also ok to take breaks, when I got my back done we took about 3 breaks, mostly to smoke lol and to give his hand a rest, don't want a tired hand doing your beauty work. And for the guy with all the tattoos and piercings, everybody is different.

many tattoo artists don't like to tattoo on skin that has been numbed because it changes the texture of the skin. three to four hours of tattoo work is totally doable. i have sat thru 3 1/2 hours of work before and i took it. it was extremely painful but if i can do it so can you.

um how bout no numbing and take the needle pricks for 4 hours. Tats dont hurt on any part of the body. I seriously don't get why peeps always say that. Its just getting a gazillion pricks in your body. And yes I have lots have tats all over and piercings. So I'm not just trying to B.S. ya.

also 3 or 4 hours is a typical session to me for a tat, you should beable to go for 6 to 8 if your artist is good enough.
