There a few different things you can try, and you may have to try them all for a few days, different things work for different people. Rubbing alcohol as mentioned already, iodine (get Betadine brand or the store equivalent, it's non-staining), or tea tree oil. Some people actually swear by a drop of toothpaste. Personally I prefer the iodine or tea tree oil, they are natural antiseptics and seem to work best for me.

Where is in on your face? That makes a difference in understanding what type of zit or boil you have. And how big is it, both visibly and then how big does it feel underground? Does it have visible pus, i.e a head on it? have you tried to pop it, because if so, you could have caused it to increase in size by pushing the infectious material further down into the pore.

The most conservative approach is, when you are home, you should ice it for 15 minutes then apply an acne cream and let it soak in. Repeat every half an hour or so. It should start to decrease in inflamation by tommorrow if you can start today.

If you already see a pus forming, then it will take longer to go away. There are a number of approaches...but since I don't have all the info....let's just go with the icing approach. Contact me if you need more help.

I think it may be time to go to the dermatologist. Any zit that lasts longer than 1 week and is big and purple needs to be examined by a physician to make sure it's not infected or something else. Once you go there they can give you cortisone injections to help it go away faster.

Hope this helps! I've had trouble with acne in the past and it is AWFUL!

If it's gone real deep your doc may have to ***** to drain it. I usually use toothpaste for the small ones. It works because it kills bacteria.

Are you sure it's not something that needs to be checked by a doctor?
