My understanding is that once you have asked Jesus into your heart and accepted him as the savior, you get into heaven. Your salvation lasts the rest of your life, even if you sin again after becoming born again.
However, there are people who say that you go to Hell if you commit suicide, because you can't ask for forgiveness. But if you are already saved, you shouldn't have to keep asking for forgiveness for every sin, should you?
If so, a lot of "saved" people would end up in Hell. Anyone who told a lie, and was hit by a car before they had a chance to repent, would be damned.

Well, if you are a born-again Christian, and you should be baptized, the Bible has a verse that says, "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind". This means that when you accept Jesus, you are born again, and you take on a different mind set and you should do all you can to turn away from sin. If you continue to sin because you think it's ok, you have the wrong idea about salvation. Unfortunately then, when a person sins against God, they must ask forgiveness, saved or not.
As for your question about suicide, as a Christian, I don't believe that God would condemn anyone to hell for suicide. That is between God and the person. I believe that it is a belief of the Catholic church that people who commit suicide go to hell. There is no Biblical evidence for this.

Whenever I answer a question like this, I'm deeply aware that someone may be reading this who is seriously contemplating suicide—and I would do everything in my power to convince them not to take that final, drastic step. With Christ there is always hope.
God loves them; He loves them so much that Jesus Christ was willing to die on the cross for their salvation. And others care about them, as well (even if they have a hard time believing it). Suicide is never God's will, and even in the midst of life's worst storms we can look to Christ and discover that He truly is "an anchor for the soul, firm and secure" (Hebrews 6:19). The first step back from the brink of suicide is to turn to Christ and open our hearts to Him.
Suicide is always a tragedy—but in itself it is not the unpardonable sin. The only sin God cannot pardon is the sin of rejecting Christ. God knows a person's heart, and He also knows that mental illness sometimes clouds a person's judgment so much that they aren't fully responsible for their actions.
At the same time, ask God to help you be sensitive to the needs of others—especially someone who may be facing discouragement or depression. Often simply knowing that someone cares will help them turn the corner.

True Christianity does not teach the "once saved, always saved" doctrine. Otherwise, why would there be all the principles and standards set out in the Bible for Christians?
As for people who commit suicide, yes it is a sin because they are taking their life. HOWEVER, most people who commit suicide are not entirely there mentally and emotionally. Their state of dispair has taken them so far that some of them aren't really in control of what they are doing. God will take that into account. He is the only one who can read hearts and truly determine their heart condition. We must leave it up to him...

There are a lot of doctrinal variations/differences in the denominations and between Protestant and Catholic.
A small few say suicide is an unforgivable sin.
A LARGE number don't believe that way.

I don't belive that once a person is saved they are saved from then on nomatter what happens to them after that point. Your understanding of how it works is consistant with my understanding of the scriptures.
Now, people who belive differently will have different answers for you.
It's a big question. And it is one commenly argued. I don't like to argue about it because from mystandpoint, I don't think it is anything I need to worry about.

PLENTY of things negate Christian salvation, the main one being that heaven doesn't exist. You may now safely kill yourself.
