No, I don't think it is. For some people, it's about believing in something much bigger than them - a grand scheme. Not at all about false pride, but about being meek, and accepting and honoring the existence of a higher power, which only keeps us in check of our own humanity and flaws. It is so much about community, and obviously love and hope grow from the strength of such a community - very important for our own individual/personal growth.
You see, we are the ones who create the problems associated with sexism, racism etc. Now if we were only able to accept the world with an open mind, AND if this was a perfect world, we would acknowledge our meekness and our weaknesses. But considering many people won't be accepting such a fundamental shift in attitude anytime soon, we must work with what we have and help others learn such open-mindedness. We cannot judge everyone based on a few select people who refuse to see past their stubbornness.

Of course all religions are base nonsense. Devised by primitive people in order to explain what they did not understand.

Fortunately, we now live in a world where science has explained many of the wonders of the universe.

For instance, Charles Darwin showed how life had evolved over billion of years on the earth back in the mid 19th century. Before that most people believed that god had created the universe and everything within it about 6,000 years ago in a week as described in the book of genesis.

There are, of course, still some simple people about who still believe in religions but as individuals become better educated we will gradually see these primitive beliefs become history.

Try reading Richard Dawkins' excellent book The God Delusion. It is to the 21st century what the bible was to the dark ages!

i guess they are all beliefs yes, there is nothing wrong with anyone having their own beliefs people are entitled to that which include any of the above. the problems are when people think that there own beliefs are right and everyone else should feel the same that's what i call ignorance.

No. If you follow the Holy Bible, pride is a sin! None of us is any better than others. In fact, as Christians we are to think of ourselves as lower than others, so that we can serve others and show them God's love. God has offered each of us the same gift, and wants us all to accept it, but He gave us the choice.

It can be, for those who park their brains outside the church door before entering.

But for those who try to follow Christ and live the way that He wants us to, no. There *are* alert, wise believers who want no part of the power trip.
