The best single advise is to do what shorty said. Next it is better to buy from a private party because of prices.

yes , first you would want to ask a lot of ?, like if it a one owner car, how much oil it use if any, how many time it been in a shop are work on,,, has it been in a wreak,,,,,look at the wind sheil, is it good shape,, listion fo, any sound, like knocking are a ping,, drive the car,an if they say you buy first an drive it, dont,....you would need to know when was the last oil change, an look at the tires,if they got a clear title, an if any thing own on the car

Buy Japanese. That country, (about the size of California) kept this country on its knees and at bay for years in WW2.
Their resourceful devils.
Although I personally don't trust anyone that can be blindfolded with dental floss, I still admire their automobiles.
