I have noticed that most people demand that you respect their religious beliefs. I’m cool with that. Why then do the same people not respect other people’s choice of not believing in their faith? Why do religious people speak of their faith as if it were fact and get indignant when someone brings up the possibility that the big bang theory and evolution actually make more sense than the bible.

For the record I do not tell people their religion in non-sense or foolish. I think religion is good form some people. If you go to church and get something out of it then all the power to you. I just don't want to hear about it. I don't want my soul saved or want you to try to invite yourself in my home to convert me to what you belive in. I don't want an agruement about something unrelated to turn into what Jesus or one of the Apostles said. That for me is like trying to prove a point in a debate about war by quoting Jack and the Beanstock.

Because they can't fathom that we "heathens" could possible have any ideas that might make sense. How dare we cause them to question their belief system. Personally, I think that they would welcome debate if they were so sure of their religious convictions! P.S. Christians- most of us don't take trying to convert us as helpful. It's just as disrespectful as us yelling "god doesn't exist!" at you. Please be considerate.

There's a difference between saying, "I'm an atheist" and saying "I'm an atheist and your religious beliefs make no sense." Most people are not going to be happy when you say their religious beliefs make no sense (even if it's true). That's just part of functioning in polite society - you can state your own beliefs without having to denigrate or attack the beliefs of others. If a religious person wants to have a debate with you about atheism vs theism, then all bets are off and they've really got no grounds for getting offended if you call their beliefs nonsense. But someone simply stating "I'm a Christian" or "I believe in the Bible" is not an invitation for debate. If you're going around telling religious people that their beliefs make no sense, when no one has asked for your opinion about the matter, don't be shocked when they're offended.

Coz we believe it to be a fact. I'm cool with atheists, people who have a religion tend to preach or what in hopes of leading people to salvation. And yet it is good acts that draw people to a person so...

some people are wiser than others. You will never make them wiser, and they will never understand the wise.
Therefore it is the job of the wise to understand the foolish, and their ways, and how to best work with them.
This should be another branch of science - religion - why it happens, etc.
