I need to save a 100,000+ files I need them to have a small footprint and to save well. which is better .txt or .pdf? I need to search through them fast.
What are the Pro's and Con's of each?

I suggest .txt. There are no special format involved. Plus you won't need a special tool to search through the files.

Both can be useful under different situations. If u want the files to be non editable by another person then go for pdf. But if that is not very important go for the text file which may save u a lotta space compared to pdfs.
'Find' can be used on both formats. No issues.
but Pdf would be more clear and easily viewable than the text file.
i suggest u go for pdf for better clarity and security.

An *.txt file would save a lot faster and consume less disk space. Searching through those files would certainly involve a good algorithm or logic for searching so that your search would be faster.

very simple thing actually
for .txt ---> pros --- small, easy to search, very portable ( can be open in any OSs including DOS and Win 3.1 or you name it)
cons --- no formatting, no security
for .pdf ---> pros ---- formatting very good, can be viewed exactly as you save even without the fonts, more security
cons ----- bigger file, difficult to edit, u need pdf reader

Better use TXT files, you could easily save on them and search through them than PDF's.
They are your best choice.

.txt smaller in size, but harder to search through
.pdf larger in size, but easier to search through
if you're saving like 100k+ files,i suggest .pdf because although you need more space for saving,but hey, when you have 100 thousand files, its WAY more efficient to use .pdf

U better go for .pdf file which is normally used in ebooks which can hold 1000’s of pages
