Yes, it is a mayor necessity to travel from Mexico to most likely anywhere. I know what kind of situation you need to go through by actually obtaining a legal mexican visa, but in the end it will be worth the wait. I suggest you try to get your visa & then hurry up & make your plans to go to Puerto Rico soon especially now because summer is soon to come & Puerto Rico has MANY summer events going on all around the island. Flying or arriving by boat to Puerto Rico will be just like arriving in the mainland USA.

So you will need to have the same documentation as if you were going to be arriving in the USA. Just think of Puerto Rico as an extension of the USA mainland

Yes you do...if no Passport/Visa was required scores of undocumented Mexicans would enter the US Mainland illegaly via Puerto Rico.... Yes you do!

Yes, you do when you travel outside your country of orgin.

search us passports and you will find out you do not need a passport.
