apart from the ones stu quiet correctly noted there have been lots of troops killed in action in wars that the British government kept quiet such as fighting in Muscat and Oman,Viet Nam and the Congo and probably many others where our troops were sent for combat experience or to support allies in specialist roles (ie Viet Nam).
Some yeras ago on the news it was mentioned that the british army were not engaged in action for the first time in 400 years,but they were at that time engaged in Ulster.
