that sounds like it will be very pretty.

from what i hear, that will hurt a whole lot. my friend got a tattoo on his rib and it was a relatively small chinese symbol, and he said it was his most painful tattoo.

i don't know about the numbing spray. from my personal experience with numbing sprays, they dont last very long, and i dont know if that is something you'd want constantly sprayed over the area while you are being tatted.

i'd say grin and bear it. it's an experience that you will surely never forget. the pain is always worth the final product.

Good Luck!

A friend has one similar (and it's *amazingly* beautiful) and told me that yes, the ribs were intense. She's fairly buxom, not the emaciated waif type, so if you're thin it may be even more of an experience. She said it was worse than her shoulder blade and bottom of the back but well worth it.

I can't comment on the spray. I would get nervous were it me. The body can handle this kind of pain, it's just a matter of getting the mind in line. With the other tats you have, it sounds like you have the willpower.

From what I've heard the ribcage area is one of the most painful areas. But, take into consideration that everyone's pain tolerance is different.

As for any numbing sprays or such, I know some tattoo artists don't use them for the fact that it's a tattoo, it's suppose to hurt. But I've also heard some don't use it because some reaction to the skin, or how it effects how they judge if the are going deep enough or such, for the proper tattoo.

I've been told that tattoos along the ribcage area are very painful. It may have to be done in more than 1 sitting. Sound like it is going to be beautiful though. Good luck.

I dont know about the spray on freeze....but the tattoo is going to hurt because your tat is going to be along the rib cage...same as the shoulder blade and back of neck....you have strong nerves in those places....the only part that will only hurt a little is "behind the ear"...cause there is carthage not bone...

You can expect that one to hurt very badly. Anywhere there is a bone or nerve endings, or anywhere you're ticklish, will hurt pretty badly. I have no idea about the spray-on numbing stuff though, never used it.
