So I'm good friends with this man (he's 24) that I work with. We're real tight at work, hang out on weekends, talk on the phone nightly. Most nights, anyway. He'll call me before he goes to sleep sometimes, when he's laying in bed. I digress. We've never been physical. Ever. But it seems that everytime we get close, he brings up another girl's looks, or he teases me mercilessly, or he'll get a message from me that says "I miss you," but he'll respond in a weird way (saying he misses me too but also attacking me for being such a dork). Other times, he'll say things just to screw with me - tell me that an event I missed attending with him will be a big regret of mine forever, avoiding any acknowledgement of things when I say he's hurt me or did something to offend me. Is he immature, is he playing a game, or is he just inexperienced with how to deal with a woman? I mean...he asks to take me to dinner on Valentine's Day, and then brings up the attractiveness of a coworker.

And what do I do either way? If it's immaturity, I ignore it, right?

like everyone before me has pointed out to you..... he is a boy. (notice I didn't say MAN, because quite frankly... he isn't acting like one.) sound's to me like he doesn't quite know what he wants. if we were to pick this apart, and analyze it, we could say that yes, we do know for sure that to some extent he's interested in you. (i am not necissarily talking about romantically, but he obviously likes you, atleastly friendly-wise, to talk to you so often)... his asking you out to dinner, and following that up with a comment about a girl could either mean he's embarressed and confused because he IS interested in you, or he could simply just view it as a dinner with a friend.
regardless of what his confusing lingo means, I say drop the douche bag. you're obviously a rad girl. who needs some immature boy? go find yourself a man! meeooooww.

There are two possibilities one he is gay, which is likely or he isn't that intrested in you, or as the new term is "He isn't that into you." Either way start having less contact with him outside of work. Make excusess why you can't talk to him when he rings. Lessen the outside of work conversation he will either start to disclose his affection for you or he will find someone else to annoy probably a guy.
I am 99.9999% sure he doesn't like you in a physical sense so don't expect any boyfriend / girlfriend relationship from him.
Maybe set him up with another guy.

Defenetly he is inmature. Yeah he does like you for sure but I don't like it how he talks about other women's looks! Thats annoying and makes him, in my opinion, a jerk!. However, if you give him a cold shoulder for a little bit maybe he will shape up! Tell him very clear that you don't like the way he talks to you. Tell him that if he wants your attention he better do it in a polite way. One according to his age not the way a 7 yr old would go about getting a girl! Good Luck !

He's scared shitless!
He just brings up other girls because it's a way to get out of an intimate situation that he's uncomfortable with.
Just tell him exactly what you want. For example: "I want to kiss you now"
It's not all that romantic, but you two have been messing around so long that it's in that awkward place that only being direct will get you out of.
Guys don't call girls "just to talk," he either wants to date you very much, or he's gay...

it rather is partly biology; adult adult males stay fertile into previous age, and are attracted with the aid of women human beings who're fertile i.e. youthful women human beings of baby bearing age. Secondly adult adult males conflict with the aid of a mid-existence disaster, the place they like to coach that the are nevertheless appropriate to the different intercourse. in particular biology, youthful female can undergo them offspring; i doubt that they even understand it rather is the reason. the extra youthful female, if no longer attracted to being pursued, could say as for sure as available to f*** off! tell the guy you have a dad adn at the instant are not searching for yet another, or which you do no longer choose for sleazy previous adult adult males.

Inexperienced with how to deal with a woman, and scared of intimacy. I think that you should be more serious with him and maybe give him some of his own medicine to see how he takes it.

He is immature...just playing you.
Make him stop, by avoiding him.
