Maybe find a castle for action figures that he likes. Something large that he can play with, he probably likes the idea of having a home like setting to play with, and nothing wrong with that. My nephew use to carry around a doll all the time, just a caring side that he had, but he outgrew it.

Just cause he wants a barbie dream house doesn't mean he's gay or going to turn gay!! That's like saying a little girl who wants to play with a hot wheels car is a lesbian! I've seen lots of boys play with dolls, purses, and other girlie things. Go to dr.phil.com, I remember a year or 2 back there was a woman on the show who had the same fears you did. She had like 5 or 6 year old who liked to play with dolls. Dr. Phil gave her some insight on why her kid could be wanting to play with "girlie" toys. And to the best of my knowledge it had nothing to do with being a homosexual.

I don't think he'll turn gay because you buy him a Barbie dream house - but I understand you not wanting to get him one. Why not explain to him that it's a girl toy and take him to ToysRus and let him pick out a more appropriate toy for a boy his age. They have Power Ranger, GI Joe, and Star Wars things that might compare with the Barbie house.

I'd talk to her about it and tell her your concerns- she might not have even thought about the other grandchildren's point of view. You could suggest something else she could get the couple instead but ultimately, the decision is hers. Don't stop her if it's really what she wants to do, but make sure you do speak about your concerns. I would feel kind of embarrassed if my grandmother spent that much money on me- and uncomfortable that the other grandchildren didn't receive the same treatment (even if they didn't get mad). You would also kind of feel obligated to live in the house even if you wanted to move to a different area. However, it's a nice gesture and she's only trying to give your son a good start in life.

just get the the barbie dream house...if he`s gay there`s nothing you can do about it because people who are gay were born gay && you can`t change them...8-10 years from now if he starts liking men instead of women you better be ready to accept it && raise him in an enviroment where he`s not gonna be afraid to tell you...because that`ll severely hurt ur relationship with him

You son obviously has a well developed sense of "nurturing" which this society's "men" could use a little more of. Maybe it just means he will be a very good father to his children when he has them. Or, maybe he is into the structure of it...what if he wants to become a world famous architect when he grows up?

I hate to tell you this, but if he is gay, it won't be because you got him a Barbie Dream House. He would be that way from birth.
