We are having red velvet because my hubby to be loves it!!!! We asre also having white, chocolate, and maybe even like a cookies in cream. The way we are doing this is a little different tho...the display cake will actually be made of cardboard and will have all the icing and decorations but we are serving sheet cakes to the guests!!!! With 300 guests expected, I am saving a huge amount of money!!!!

I would go with a Italian creme, or maybe the vanilla / chocolate combo. But I'm not to sure about the red velvet for the wedding cake, but it would be great for the grooms cake.
However, the bottom line is it's your day and you can do anything you want! Congrats!

Is it multi tiered? If it is...why not mix and match! That's what I did. Ask your cake maker to do a tier of one flavor, and another tier of another flavor. If people don't like the red velvet, then they have the option to take the other flavor. Maybe do red velvet and vanilla since the red velvet is a chocolate flavor?
Good luck!

Don't go with red velvet. It's a tricky one to make, and there are even professional bakers who won't do it for a wedding cake. If you're having someone make your cake for you, stick with chocolate and vanilla.

Depending on whether or not your cake has layers, you could alternate the flavors. I love chocolate and my husband likes vanilla, so we alternated each layer with the two flavors. This way the guest also had a choice and we got what we wanted.

cake is tricky. its hard to make everyone happy. for us we had a 4 layer cake. the bottom was white cake with a vanilla moose mixed with white chocolate chunks and raspberry preserves (soooo freakin good!!!) the second was chocolate with chocolate moose and peanut butter cups mixed in. the third was white cake with plain vanilla moose ,and the top was the same as the bottom. it was awesome tasting cake, but the idiot that made it set up wrong and almost fell over!! (drama!! i was soooooo pissed) make sure you taste the cake before you sign any contracts. i would also suggest you go with a professional bakery and not someone who claims they are a professional (that was my case, big mistake) . anyway! chocolate or white is always the best route. good luck and congrats!!

this is your wedding. Your are to please yourselves. If you dont you will regret it. You cant please everyone. You should go with what you want. My hubby and I wanted yellow cake with raspberry filling and thats what we got. My sister had Chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling with white chocolate frosting. It was to die for. Red velvet is beautiful and great if made correctly. Make sure you try it before you make the decision. As long as you like it, it should be ok.

I honestly can't name you 3 people who don't love red velvet. You really can have whatever you want. I think a combo of red velvet and chocholate would be amazing!
