Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp which no decent human being would eat?

You know that has always been one of my pet peeves. I have no idea why they do that. I did find a 4 slice toaster that even on the highest setting doesnt cause a fire(wont go there:}). It also has settings for frozen foods! With kids you just never know what will happen when you arent home. Maybe we should write the companies & ask whats up with it! Anyway hope you enjoy some perfect toast today.

Because some people (me!) love burned toast. The reason for this is that my mother ALWAYS burned the toast when I was a child, with the result that I grew up thinking that that was what toast tasted like!

That's the setting you use if you need to protect yourself in a dangerous situation and you only have a toaster to protect you. Apparently there's nothing like nearly incinerated bread and baked goods to keep the burglars away!

It is one of life's many mysteries! I hate it when you get a toaster & your bread's too big for it!
