Is it possible to be tested to find out if you are a carrier for something... the reason i am asking is that i think i have the flu and i want to find out if i am possibly a carrier of h.flu meningitis... i know that older people and adults can't get it but that kids can and they can even die from it... i work with kids alot and the night before i got sick i worked with alot of young children (newborns to 3 year olds to be exact)... i'm really afraid that i maybe passed something to any of those kids, and i just have this really bad feeling about it... so can i get tested for something like that???

thanks in advance for your advice.

-H. Flu Meningitis Information

-Influenze (normal flu)

From what I can understand of it, the meningitis is caused by a bacteria, this is a bacteria which may follow an upper respiratory infection.
From what I understand of bacterias, they cannot be passed in a contagious manner such as what you are worried about.

What you may have is the common influenza.
This time of year especially, the influenza virus is spread around.
The key difference between influenza and meningitis is the fact that the influenza is a virus and is therfore capable of being spread through the air particles (an infected individual coughing/sneezing and you unknowingly breathing in the contaminated particles).

If it is influenza that you have there is a chance that you can pass it on to others.
As for knowing whether or not you nfected somebody, symptoms do not typically appear for 1-7 days.

As far as getting tested, the flu can be found through a throat swab or blood test.
If they decide to test you for meningitis then they will need to perform a spinal tap, in which they literally take some of your spinal fluid out for testing.

Chances are high that you have influenza and NOT bacterial meningitis.

Hope you find some of this information helpful and hopefully it helps you to feel more at ease.
Hope you are feeling well soon.

God bless.

Here are some of the conditions they can test for careers.
1. Sickle cel disease.
2. Heamophilia.
3. A lot of other common blood disorders.

Its generally not possible to be a career of a bacteria or a virus and it does not infect you. Generally if you recieved immunization and vaccines then your body should have developed immunity against most of these bacterial and viral infections.

I would advise you to recieve annual flu shots if you work a lot with kids, old people, or in the hospital. These are CDC reccomendations.

To answer you, you cant not be a career for the Menningitis bacteria or virus. Neither can you be a career of the flu virus.

Flu is caused by the flu virus, not the H. flu bacterium. H. flu does not cause flu. The name is a misnomer. H. flu causes infections in children, usually not beyond the age of seven years.
