well I am 28 and I have a mullet, and I get smiles from high school girls so it can't be all that bad.

Ok, so your son is 8 years old... and needs a stylish haircut... it is your choice as his parent to decide what kind of haircut he should have, but also would be a good idea for him to have a say in the matter... He should also be happy with the outcome! If it were me, I wouldn't choose either one of the styles, but look through a magazine or hairstyle book at a local salon... they have lots of great options for boys and mens haircuts now... for any age! I personally think that the mullet and the rat tail is out of style now... even the bowl cut has seen it's day.. I have personally done too many of those myself as a hairstylist in a salon about 5 years ago! So, it's up to you, of course, but get some input from your son and see what would make both of you happy! Good luck... I think a change from the long hair would be great for spring & summer!

Neither! Get him a mohawk! That's cool, and his friend's wont make fun of him.
