A contradiction that really is a contradiction, that is. What could you write in the bible that could not be resolved?

Bryan: Let me take your fictional contradiction and explain it like a Christian would:

"God said let there be light" and then
"Satan created light, and god didn't"

-- Example of Christian explanation: It is true God SAID "let there be light", but it never says God CREATED the light. Satan was his tool for light creation.

There are no contradictions in the Bible. Only people who lack discernment provided by the Holy Spirit to understand them.

Before I was Born Again, I thought there were many contradictions and errors in the Bible. As I began to read God's Word from cover to cover, and not just ISOLATED scriptures taken out of context, truth was revealed.

2 Peter 1:20-21 - Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Blessings, Miji

This was done all the time in the Old and New Testament. It's called redactive writing. Many passages were written in say the 4 B.C. and then in 3 B.C., when politics were changed, it was rewritten. There are many examples of this. We have many different religions because many different people interpret the Bible in the way it best suits them. War is a prime example. Jesus did not preach war. God gave the commandment, "thou shall not kill." and "do not covet thy neighbor's goods," which people do all the time. There was an instance in Boulder, CO. where a couple took some land that wasn't theirs because the law said they could. They legally obtained the land that was their neighbors. Just because the Bible says not to do wrong, doesn't mean that people don't do it anyway. The law of the land usually prevails over the law of the Bible. The slaves in America were not allowed to learn to read because of what the Bible said about releasing a slave after 7 years. Many people were killed over their interpretations of the Bible since before and after Jesus was born.

Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden , Due to family unhappiness one brother killed the other brother. (Cain and Abel) The killing brother was cast out of his family and sent to live with the tribes in the area. Where did the other tribes come from? Were Adam and Eve really the only people in Eden or had others been cast out before? For instance, maybe Seth and Mary had already been tested and failed. They were thrown out before Adam and Eve to start these other tribes. This is an actual contradiction in the Bible.

How about this. Name a single text in the bible that CAN'T be contradicted by some other text. Anybody? I dare you! Lay it on me - I'm quite the exegetist.

"There are no contradictions in the Bible. The Bible is the infallible word of God."

So prove it!

Even the most apparently fundamental of passages is nullified elsewhere. For example, God Himself orders His "chosen" to break every single one of His own Ten Commandments at one point or another.

No idea. At least not specific to the bible. But I did question the folks at Catholic school about this.

They would say there was no sin that was unforgiveable if you asked forgiveness. But murder is a mortal sin (one you go to hell for if you don't ask forgiveness). So, then, is suicide. So if you kill yourself you probably do not have time to ask forgiveness before you're dead and gone. Doesn't that become an unforgiveable sin?

A contradiction would say that Jesus was not the incarnation of the Father but just a god or his messenger.

Not a real biblical contradiction but a logical perception I think.

WHAT IF:

CREATION AND EVOLUTION ARE THE SAME. THE TWENTY-FOUR HOUR DAY IS MANS EARTHLY CONCEPT OF TIME BECAUSE IT FITS THE PHYSICS OF EARTH’S ROTATION IN ORBIT AROUND THE SUN, AND THE SPINNING OF THE PLANET ON IT’S AXIS.

WHAT IF:

ONE OF GOD' S DAYS EQUALS A BILLION OR SO OF OUR YEARS? TO PUT THIS INTO PERSPECTIVE, COMPARE A SINGLE ATOM TO OUR SOLAR SYSTEM, THEN COMPARE THE AVERAGE TIME REQUIRED FOR THE ELECTRONS (PLANETS) TO ORBlT AROUND THE NUCLEUS (SUN) AND THEN THINK OF THE SIZE/TIME RELATIONSHIP COMPARING OUR SOLAR SYSTEM TO THAT ATOM. THEN COMPARE OUR TINY SOLAR SYSTEM, AS AN ATOM, TO THE IMMENSITY OF THE UNIVERSE. SURELY, UNIVERSAL TIME CANNOT BE ON THE SAME SCALE AS MANS. IF THIS CONCEPT IS TRUE, THEN SIX OF "GOD'S" DAYS COULD EQUAL BILLIONS OF YEARS OF OUR EARTH TIME. WHEN MAN INTERPRETED AND WROTE "GOD'S" WORD (BIBLE) HE HAD NO ACCURATE CONCEPT OF THE UNIVERSE OR DIFFERENT TIME SCALES. SO SIX DAYS, (MANS INTERPRETATION OF "GOD'S” WORD) TO CREATE OUR EARTH COULD BE CORRECT FORM BOTH “GOD’S” WORD (BIBLE) AND DARWIN’S THEORY OF EVOLUTION.

"God said let there be light"

and then

"Satan created light, and god didn't"

That my friend, is a contracdiction. But there is none in the bible, just people that interpurt incorrectly, or tottaly make verses up (and yes, I've seen that).

Why would Jesus say "Father forgive them, they know not what they do" when some people don't believe in the trinity? Why would he say that to himself, if he is God also... kinda contradiction to Protestants and Catholics I would say.

Here's a good one for Christians:

Where does Jesus Christ (pbuh) HIMSELF say that he is the Son of God and should be worshiped and praised as if he were God Himself?
