my little cousin still sucks her thumb and shes 7 years old can you guys please give me an idea to make her?

I'm not trying to say that it is ok for her to suck her thumb b/c it can damage her teeth, but I am 21 yrs old and I still suck mine. My mom tried everything to get me to stop and nothing worked. She tried hot sauce, bitter stuff to help nail bitters I mean anything you can think of she did it. But it seemed the more she was determined to get me to stop the more I was determined to continue doing it. Anyways, in my case me sucking my thumb has not hurt my teeth although my dentist tells me that I have a perfect imprint of my thumb on the roof of my mouth. What I guess i'm trying to say is if you have tried everything you can think of then maybe just lay off and she will quite on her own. Good luck and I hope everything works out.

first of all there is a product called Thum or Thumb. Not sure spelling. You can get it at drug stores. You put it on like nail polish. Supposedly it has a bad taste and the kids stop putting it in their mouth. If you don't find it ask the pharmacist. They should be able to order it for you.
Now. Here's a good one. When I was little my mom was rolling pennies. I went over to help her. When I got done my thumb tasted horrible and I thought it went bad so I never put it in my mouth again cause of the taste. Try having her carry a penny around in that hand. The taste will disgust her and she will probably stop. I know it worked for me. It was quite an accident but a good one I would say. Good luck. It's not easy. It's a security issue. If it gets too bad there is a thing that the dentist can put in her mouth that has little teeth on it and when she puts her thumb in there it sort of scratches it to where she can't like it. They take it right back out once she has learned not to do it. But this probably costs a lot.

This is embarrasing butI sucked mine till I was nine years old and I stopped on my own. Well, I had a dream that the house was on fire and I bit into my thumb. My parents did everything from hot sauce(which I liked), Nasty thumb polish(which I sucked off), to having some sort of contraption put in my mouth to poke me when I sucked on my thumb(which they stopped early on because it was cruel) and nothing worked. Even though I sucked my thumb till I was nine my teeth are very pretty without braces... just a tiny gap. Goodluck.

Ok, this is sad to say, but I am grown and I still have my moments when I suck my thumb. It is a really horrible habit. When I was little, my grandmother would spank me everytime she caught me sucking my thumb. All that did to me was make me sneaky. I couldn't give up my thumb as a child, I just had so much going on. Let him be, he will out grow it by himself. Don't pressure him though, you will mess him up emotionally.

Most suck their thumbs for comfort. My nephew sucked his thumb so bad that he had blisters and even skin started peeling. We tried everything under the sun. Most effective thing..keeping his hands busy, hot sauce, and bandaids. Not at the same time though:)

I wouldn't worry about it unless it's affecting her teeth. More than likely, she will eventually do it in front of some kids who make fun of her for it and then she'll stop.

My son is 18, and although he stopped thumb-sucking years ago, sometimes he still does it in his sleep - he wouldn't even know he did if I hadn't seen it, lol. And his teeth are perfect, never needed braces.

you just got to give her time to realized it.....don't worried eventually she will get the idea that no one in her age still sucks thumb... give her time... but don't pressure her.
