for our anniversary dinner party. She says they are special and should not be used in polite company but I say that all my mates will need somewhere to put their sauce and hot fish yoghurt.
I've always enjoyed showing off her wares and she has been up for it a bit in the past. Once she wore a waitress uniform and showed off her pie I let 2 of my mates use their custard to decorate it before giving it a stir myself and eating it all up.

First off all you best give them a good clean and polish, so she will be happy with the way they look make sure you give them a good rub with with the old spit & polish!! Say to her how wonderfull they look and that it would be a shame to let them go to waste they would be the center of attention at the party everyone will love them and will want to have a go at using them. If shes still not happy about using her jugs just wait till the party and get them out when she least expects it, they will be such a sucess and the enjoyment she will get from seeing lots of happy faces means that she will forgive you very quickly after! Hmmm I see your dilemma quite selfish of your wife really.
Whats wrong with wanting to show off your wares and to be proud of them as every host should!
I say the jugs should be placed on the table in all there glory for all your guests to marvel at!
Not only that but as you say, they double up as a place for special sauces, pretty and practical, you can't lose!
