People should be exposed to a variety of views and opinions. It should be up to them, however, to choose their beliefs.

The Alpha course is no more trying to sway people into Christianity than any advert on the TV is trying to sway people into believing the brand on offer is better than all the others out there. If the Alpha course should be banned then so should all advertising!
The course simply attempts to answer some of the questions people have about the Christian Faith and why churches follow certain traditions.
No one will press gang you into attending an Alpha Course, therefore you have free will whether to attend or not, and if you do attend you have free will whether to agree or disagree with what is said and discussed. How can it be against free will.
God does want, and has given every human being free-will, if He hadn't then there would be no discussion on this subject as everyone would follow the same religion.
We live in a country where we are free to believe in what we want, and to discuss and "argue" about our differences. We should be grateful for that fact and stop trying to tell people what they can and can't believe in.

I have been to an Alpha Course, generally it is good. The only thing I don't like about it is when theyy start talking about the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. One gift is the speaking in tongues. For me there seems to be a push for those present to have this gift and then start talking or should I say babbling in strange words and maybe falling over. I would say that this quite unneccessary and I would not be surprised if it did some harm to the mind. Otherwise the rest is ok.

The Alpha Course was designed to answer "Life's Questions" about Christianity. It's a course to educate, and if taught properly, does not "sway" one way or another. In the Alpha Course, there are no "right or "wrong answers. The table leader should say very little after the lecture is given, and simply ask table members, "How do you feel about this?" or "What do you think about that?" ANYONE is welcome at an Alpha Course....even those who are non-believers are welcomed and should never be judged while there.

I have not personally attended an Alpha course and nor would I as I am a spiritualist, but my daughter has. I am so against it mainly because it has taught her some not very nice things. If anything goes wrong in her life she says that ' it is the devil testing me'. Other things she has come out with (I am talking about a mature adult here, not a child) makes me fear for her and what she is believing. I think, reading between the lines plus what she has told me, that it is just another form of brainwashing and I am sure God does not want this sort of control going on.

The Alpha course SHOULD be banned , but, not because it moves people toward Christianity. It is already aimed at Christians but it also wants to dump all the beautiful traditions and devotions of the True Church for the sake of Ecumenism. You must not belittle the Blessed Mother because some other faith says she is not important. You must not welcome active homosexuals within your parish. etc. This program is geared around bringing all the Churches together but all the Churches should not be together in "error". Not all the Churches are where they should be in theological doctrines but, they want to throw out the good and keep the bad. That's just wrong.

Now as I understand it God gave us free will.
God gave us free will so that we could choose (of our own free will) to become christians, submit ourselves to the authority of some self-appointed 'pastor', and spend the rest of our lives refraining from excercising our God-given free will.
He seems to have given us genitals for a similar reason - so that we could resist the temptation to put them to some use.
I wonder if my stomach is commiting a mortal sin by digesting the food I have put into it.
YES. The alpha course is rubbish, it should be banned along with all the other religious rubbish.

Taking the alpha course does not force people to choose Christ. In order to have the ability to choose or not one must hear about God in the first place.
If you take free-will out of the picture you would haver the crusades.

Free Will is the ability to choose, it is your choice to go on the Alpha course. It is you choice to listen, it is your choice act.
Where at any point is you free will taken away.
When you turn to God and Jesus you are set free from the circle of sin,You still have free will.

What a load of tosh! God has given us free-will. If you don't want to be involved in the Alpha course, keep away - that's free will.

No free will implies the right to go on a Alpha course . Alpha is a forum for people to learn what the christian faith is about and what its not and to ask questions you can come and go as you please .
