Or are they so brainwashed they don't even feel the cognitive dissonance any more.

Yeah... apparently, if we learn about this information too soon, it could be such a shocking and intense experience that we may die!

I'm surprised more people aren't in the hospital or going stiff just by visiting http://xenu.net !!

Actually... no, I'm not surprised. This is very very typical cult behavior. Cults are structured much like an onion - you keep the most benign and easy to digest material on the outside. That way, you draw them in, get them hooked, and THEN reveal each disturbing tenet layer after layer. By that time, they're already a cult member through and through and will buy into anything the cult swears is true.

By the way, I like how you mentioned cognitive dissonance... I'm thinking the same thing.

Basically, what thetaalways did was just slagged you off rather than answer your question. Flunk, thetaalways, you are not giving an answer to the question! My answer is: No, I'm not surprised their heads don't explode because after they've paid in so much money they are expecting something. Even if that something is a useless piece of information, they will convince themselves that it is fantastic because of the amount of money they spend on this ridiculous thing. Yes, I'm just a mere 'PC' and I haven't died of pneumonia and I can sleep like a baby (just like the other answer by marbledog) so more like my brain should have been exploded when I found out about Xenu from the internet. God bless the internet!

Actually, according to the OT III manual, YOU should die from hearing the Xenu story. The documents states that no scientologist should ever tell the Xenu story (referred to as Incidents One and Two) to anyone who hasn't spent the years of training (and thousands of dollars) to reach Operating Thetan level III. Their fragile little minds simply wouldn't be able to handle the truth, and they would start experiencing increased nervousness and extreme insomnia until their eventual premature death.

As for myself, I first heard the fable four or five years ago, and I sleep like a baby. Maybe it's a really slow process. It'll probably kill me in another eighty or ninety years.

EDIT:
Way to hunt down that entheta, thetaalways. You're racking up the points, now.

It's a not joking matter, people who get that far are typically in for thousands of dollars and probably have lost their jobs and family members. By that point they would listen to anything.

For me, that would be a duct tape around the skull moment, but hell, look at who promotes Scientology the most. Rich, uneducated celebs who are totally removed from reality. I guess they'll believe anything.
