Look up fetal alcohol syndrome. That alone should keep you from drinking anymore while pregnant. You need to eat healthy and take care of yourself properly to have a healthy baby-think about your baby not so much about how you are feeling.

It is possible that any amount of alcohol can cause fetal alcohol syndrome, but if it makes you feel better, you wouldn't be the first person to drink that early in pregnancy. I was 6 weeks along before i found out I was pregnant and had drank for a couple of weekends before. My daughter is fine. She's smart and beautiful. i would say as long as you are taking care of yourself now, the baby should be fine. As far a depression - my father died when I was 5 months pregnant with my son. I was severely depressed and stressed. I did end up with pregnancy complications, but they don't know why. There's just some things that happen sometimes. Could have been the stress and depression, or it could have been coincidence. He had fetal growth restriction and I ended up with severe hypertension (my blood pressure was 198/100. Normal for me was 110/60) and went into labor at 34 weeks. He is fine now. His only problem was a low birth weight (3 lbs 12 oz) because of the fetal growth restriction, but he is mentally and physically fine. He had to stay in the hospital for 12 days. He came home when he weighed 4 pounds.
Just take care of yourself.

Your worrying about what emotional depression will do to your baby. Did you mention to the doctor you drank ALOT of alcohol? Do you know what fetal alcohol syndrome is?

Get help and don't drink again, if so you need to have your child taken away from you at birth.
You're risking the life of an innocent child, I don't think you are mature enough to take care of a child, let alone mentally stable enough, if you can't control your drinking.
How old are you?
Just because the child was "fine" on an ultrasound, doesn't mean you didn't already do damage to his/her brain.

Most women do not even know they are pregnant until about that time, so i think the risk to the baby is small . Once you definately know you are pregnant then of course any alcohol or tobacco use is unacceptable. You are lucky that the fall you took did not terminate your pregnancy. I think everything will be okay. We all have times when we become down or depressed and sad. If it last for more than a couple of weeks then you need to see a professional. A happy mother makes for a happy baby. GoodLuck

If you are depressed whilst you are pregnant your child does have a higher risk of also suffering with depression later on their life. Drinking during pregnancy can make your baby smaller and less healthy. If you only did this once and haven't done it again, the baby should be ok, especially as it has been checked and everything was fine.

For your sake and your child's sake snap out of this.
At six weeks the risk of fetal alcohol syndrome is not high. So, you more than likely narrowly escaped. But, this is the time the brain develops the most. So, if you don't stop your child will definately have FAS.

snap out of it for your baby's sake....alcohol can cause alcohol fetal syndrom, but at 6 weeks, probably not....emotional stress can cause a miscarriage, look on the bright side of having a baby and cheer up!!! for yourself and your baby.

Why would you want to put harm on the baby. Crying out loud give the baby up for adoption since you wouldn't be able to take care of her when she is born. I mean you can't even take care of her when she is in the womb.
