My dog would rather eat my dirty socks than play witth his own toys...I think it is kind of gross, but why do they do this?

Because they smell really good (to dogs, anyway). Keep your socks in a hamper and rub your hands all over a couple of his toys before you leave. He'll probably like the toys better when your scent is on them.

Because they smell good to the good. Much more fragrant than his toys. And because people pay him lots of attention, which he loves and craves, when he goes after the socks.

grimy socks are a scent bonanza for canines. they're heady scent animals. you may desire to no longer enable him growl at you, nevertheless. this is a demonstration of dominance and a warning to you to stay away. prepare him to "drop it" with socks, toys, and so on. He could desire to be keen to grant you something you like from him. replace the sock with a toy once you're taking it away.

THE ODOR OF MAN (or woman)...

You will have to keep your socks picked up or come to accept the fact that your dog *just loves you SOoooo much*.. (smiles)

AIN'T IT FUN?

Because it smells like you and they get more attention. It is the same reason if I am not home my dog sleeps in my hamper. She is weird.

Dirty socks also have a salty taste to them. Please clean up so your dog does not get serious obstruction and dies. This really is nothing to joke about.
