It's $125.00. This is what was left after insurance. This is the very first bill in 16 months. They want their money in 10 days. What should I do? I don't have the money.

Contact their billing office and work out a payment plan. They'll probably let you pay it in increments but the most important thing is to contact them and work with them.

It has probably taken this long for the insurance involved to do everything that needed to be done so they would know how much your share would be. This means you have had a break of 16 months to get ready for it. It you have put away $8 a month, you would have more than enough to pay the bill.

What should you do? Pay the bill, they have a right to what they are owed. If you don't have it, get it. Borrow it from a friend or relative, or sell something to get it.

Contact them & set up a payment plan then stick to it. It is a misconception that you cannot be turned over to a collection agency if you are making payments. Unless you have a written agreement for a payment plan that you stick to, they CAN turn you over. Most providers will not do it b/c it cuts into their return by paying the agency.
Oh, and the time frame does not matter in your case. In my state (AL) you have 3 years to send the first bill to the patient.
If you truly do not have the money to pay, ask if they have an "indigent" program. You will have to prove that you cannot afford the bill & if you have any income you will probably not qualify but who knows? Also, ask if they will settle for a lesser amount-but only ask if you can pay that amount in full. You cannot settle then get on a payment plan.

Contact the ambulance company and give them your insurance information. If your auto insurance won't cover it, your health insurance might cover at least part of the cost. If that is what you owe after all of the insurance, call and set up a payment plan. Most places are happy if you at least make an honest attempt to pay your debt.

As a paramedic, I know how the billing companies work. You are required to pay the bill, if not you will be sent to collection and it starts to effect your credit. Just send in as much as you can, ie 10 dollars, 25 dollars. The billing company can't force you to pay all of it at once if you don't have it. But make sure you keep paying.

You have to contact the company and talk to someone about it. All you can do is tell them you cannot afford it right now,and that you have just recieved the bill. At least you can go on record with them, but they might pressure you to tell them when you can pay it.

Send it to your insurance company. That's their responsibility.

Don't worry about the threats, it's all bark. It's not like they're capable of coming to your house, punching you in the exact locations where you were injured in the accident and then drop you off at the spot of the accident or anything.

Though, you may want to read the Fair Credit and reporting act online if you're worried that they'll start harassing you.

That happened to me too. They charged me up with a $54 ambulance fee. Just call or email them saying you don't have the money. I mean. there's really no way you can pay if you're really broke...

Pay them! You used their services and payment is now due. Evidently, your insurance company wouldn't pick up the tab. Maybe you should check with your insurer.
