An ear infection is not contagious, though the cold that may lead to it can be. An individual is contagious for 1-2 days before developing symptoms of a cold. A person develops a cold 1-4 days after becoming infected with the virus.

Colds are viruses and like all viruses, are contagious. You'll have to make the determination if you want to take her. You can watch your child closely and make sure she doesn't share toys and drinks with your friend's daughter. Or, you can play it on the safe side and reschedule your play date.
The antibiotic I assume was prescribed for the ear infection, and won't help the cold because viruses can't be cured with antiobiotics. Good luck!!

The ear infection is not contagious.....however the cold is and it doesn't matter if she is on antibiotics(probably for the ear infection) because the cold is viral therefore not affected by them.

Colds are contagious if the friends daughter sneezes, coughs on or touches your baby with sneezed or coughed on hands. They key here is to wash the little girls hands every time she coughs or sneezes. Tissues help. Waterless cleaners help, and little kids like to use them.
Ear infections are not contagious.

Antibiotics will not cure the common cold. Since the flu has cold like symptoms I would wait on the visit until her child is well. She may be lonesome but talking on the phone right now would be best for you and your child.
It takes 10 days to two weeks to get over a common cold.

the ear infection is not, it's a post secondary condition...the cold absolutely is...as long as her nose is running and she is coughing or sneezing, your child is at risk,,,antibiotics do nothing for the cold symptoms, just the ear....
