It happens...my personal feeling is that it's pure stupidity. I have heard many many stores of guys losing all kinds of money because they 'fall in love' with someone they met on the internet, they get suckered into thinking they are in love with this person, this person makes all kinds of promises (most of which require money from the man) and the next thing you know they disappear.
Basically, it's lonely men that fall victim to this (I used to belong a yahoo group and we had a member who had this happen to him...he was a 30+ y.o. virgin who had never even been on a date before). Lonely men with few friends and very low self esteem.

Desperate. If someone asked you to marry them online and you have never even met them then I would worry a little. It is very important to know someone before you decide to get married.

OMG is this my ex hubby???? My ex did that to me....duh me for saying yes and actually going thru with it. I had never met him in person but we talked online and on the phone everynight.
