Plugged in the wrong adapter to the tape recorder and the voltage was higher than required. Is it possible that its just a small fuse or is it hopeless. Its a Sony Portable, very high end and I hate to lose this quality product on account of carelessness. Will not play now either by electricity or battery.

Thank-you in advance.

There's a place in Santa Monica that does very good work but I don't want to spend the up front money in case its hopeless.

It could be fried. Get an estimate from a repair shop. If it can be repaired it might not be the cost. A new one could be cheaper.

I presume there are Sony Service Centres in the 'States?

Get in contact with them and ask if they can give an estimate.

It would be better to send it to one of them. They have people who know the product and have ready access to the service manuals and spares.

i'm exceptionally specific Wal-Mart is a sort of shops which will settle for something decrease back, i've got heard whether the guy did no longer purchase the product there, yet say they did. it may no longer harm to attempt. i know that is stressful, yet once you're making a huge fuss approximately it, they're going to return and refund something they could to make you chuffed and quiet...i know I did as quickly as I worked in retail. can no longer harm to a minimum of attempt.
