I have had several dogs that have also been "picky", my experience has been that unless you think your dog may be sick or have an intestinal obstruction, wait it out...your dog will eat when it is hungry enough. Some dogs (especially smaller breeds) just do not eat as often as you would think is normal.

Constantly changing foods, bowls, mixes, etc will only make the dog less comfortable with the "new" food and possibly causing him/her to become sick or uncomfortable making him/her even less likely to eat regularly.

Make sure to put your dog's food in a quiet place away from kids, busy areas, etc. Give your dog "peace and quiet" when he/she is eating.

P.S. I mean this respectfully, "Thank you!" for not referring to your Yorkir mix as a "Yorkie Poo", "Yorkie Doodle" or some other ridiculous name!!

Good Luck!

My dog does the same darn thing. Frustrating isnt it. I found that if you mix lamb baby food with the dry dog food they gobble it right up. However at $1 for a tiny jar of baby food you might not want to go with that option. Put hot water on the dry food, just enough to give it a good gravey and let it cool. The food will also be softer for them to chew.

Feed your Yorkie the dry food. If she won't eat it, she doesn't eat. Just like kids, eventually she'll be hungry enough to eat it. She won't starve to death. Just don't give her any treats or other types of food until she eats the dry food.

If you knew that not eating would cause your mom to fix you a gourmet meal, you'd refuse to eat, too.

Your dog will eventually eat it. Make sure the dog gets no table scraps or treats, and provide only the dry food. The dog will either eat or starve, and survival instinct will prevent voluntary starvation.

Gertie's right. If, when you put your dog's dinner down, he doesn't eat it, then pick it back up and wait til next time. Your dog is training you to give him what he wants. Don't let him do this - he won't starve.
