If all the Cadbury's Creme Eggs made each year were stacked one on top of each other they would stretch from the Bournville factory in Birmingham to Australia - around 12,000 miles

World War I dealt the corset a fatal blow when the U.S. War Industries Board called on women to stop buying corsets in 1917. It freed up some 28,000 tons of metal.

The origins of the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme:
Humpty Dumpty was not a person pilloried in the famous rhyme. Humpty Dumpty was in fact a huge canon! The canon, Humpty Dumpty, was strategically placed on the protective wall of "St Mary's Wall Church" in Colchester, England. During the English Civil War (1642 - 1649) the town of Colchester was fiercely fought for by the Roundheads and Cavaliers. A shot from a Parliamentary canon succeeded in damaging the wall beneath Humpty Dumpty which caused the canon to tumble to the ground. The Royalists, or Cavaliers, 'all the King's men' attempted to raise Humpty Dumpty on to another part of the wall. However, because the canon , or Humpty Dumpty, was so heavy ' All the King's horses and all the King's men couldn't put Humpty together again!' This had a drastic consequence for the Royalists as the strategically important town of Colchester fell to the Parliamentarians after a siege lasting eleven weeks.

Whoever above me said something about "the common sign of the devil: 666"........well, new studies have revealed that this is wrong. Early versions of the bible, before the infamous King James version, all point towards the Number of the Beast being 616 and not 666! 666 was a mistranslation - incredible how things become 'common knowledge' that are actually wrong.

It's true - I'm sure there are articles on the internet about it.

Well anyway, I think that's interesting :o)

That the common sign for the devil 666 is the first 36 numbers added together (1+2+3+4......33+34+35+36=666) and it's a triangular number.

Well, I'm answering a question posted by a meerkat, so I'd say... yes. Aside from that, I'm not sure I'd characterize things as strange and interesting. It's all more sort of surreal.

If you type smirnoff on your mobile phone with predictable text, it will spell poisoned instead.

If you are kidnapped and thrown into a boot of car, kick out the backlights, put your hand through and start waving. The kidnapper will not know but other drivers are bound to notice and alert police.

If someone tries to snatch your bag, throw it one direction and run the opposite way from where you threw it. The thief will be more interested in the bag rather than harming you.

The one fact that I once told my trusting, young daughter, which made her look at me in total disbelief, occurred on the beach in Bradenton one day.

With a rather vast beach lying before us, I picked up a handful of sand and explained to her that there are more stars in the sky than there are grains of sand on all the beaches of the planet earth.

If you're feeling dizzy and on the brink of a heart attack after eating oily foods, suck on a calamansi (a tiny lime from the Philippines) and the dizziness will stop almost immediately and prevent the heart attack.
