that another Earth-bound species that physically resembles us would share 98.5-99% the same DNA, use tools and be able to communicate in complex symbolic language and NOT be related?

I find the odds against that impossible to swallow.

My momma aint have sex wid no monkey. So's you can just git your fancy science article away from me. Am I gonna believe pastor Johnny Bill, who graduated from our high school, and took metal shop, or am I gonna believe one o' dem fancy scientists. You ask me...all dem scientists are a little funny. They even let Jews and Mulsims, and hindus be scientists. And jesus don't like those kind.

why bother wondering or thinking about it? You can discuss this forever! Yet,
What arrogance for anyone to assume that there may not be any other living 'thing' in the universe, especially as we do not know how large the universe actually is, or what is at the other end of a black hole. Consider how different species exist on this planet, and more are discovered as many more become extinct - the billion to one odds are impossible to swallow. But, one day we will find out the truth and that will be an interesting day, sadly possibly not in my lifetime.

The chances are billion to one for what? If they are "related" that proves Creation, right? Same God, same planet. DNA is very much like a self-programing computer program with data. You just don't get things like DNA occurring by accident.

The odds of DNA occuring by accident, or being designed by monkeys, are far, far greater than billions to one against.

If primates and man however shared the same unique defect in their DNA it would be almost indisputable proof of shared ancestry and of course they do because it is what prevents them synthesising vitamin c like other species. It's impossible for creationists to raise a valid challenge against such evidence.

Have you ever looked into different species DNA? Humans share most of our DNA with dogs, shrimp and slugs too. Maybe there are only so many ways DNA can be constructed to actually generate life.

Why? Various species of birds build elaborate nests with just their beaks. Beavers build dams that can change the course of rivers. Otters use rocks to open mullosks. Birds can solve complex puzzles. Birds, elephants, dolphins, whales, wolves, even bees etc all have complex communication. Just because a chimp can fashion a piece of straw to extract termites or sharpen the end of stick with his teeth into a spear makes it somehow humanlike? Please!!! One data point does not a relationship make.

I think the odds that independant evolution has formed us into a diverse, viable species is probably trillions to one or higher. Every thing is a little too perfect for chance.

Or it could be that God decided to create them with similar DNA. Why? I don't know, bc He felt like it I guess.
