I have an almost 10 month old and he has been cruising for a couple of months. Last night he started standing up, from a sitting position, in the middle of the floor and taking a couple of steps. He did this several times. He also will let go and cruise form one piece of furniture to the next or to me(taking a few unaided steps). In everyone's experience, how long did it take for this behavior to translate in to walking? Thanks! I am not trying to compare, just want to know what others' have experienced?

Wow, what an exciting transition for your little boy! I experienced two different spectrums with my two boys. My first only crawled for 3 weeks and walked before his 9 month birthday. My second crawled for 4 months and walked at 15 months - pretty big difference! I can say for both of them, standing up on their own and moving from furniture to furniture like your son is doing was a big clue the steps were about to come! Both my boys were walking probably within a month of doing the "furniture push-off."

Good luck to you and your boy - get that video camera ready!!

Honestly my son did this for all of one day! We came back from a movie later on that night and he was walking. So it can happen very fast once they get their walking feet :) Just look out! Nothing is safe:) lol
