I have a 16ft tri-hull boat. I use a Minn-Kota 30lb thrust. I bought it at Wal Mart for about $100. It does the trick.

i think any size over 30lbs of thrust would be OK,i have a 12ft flat bottom and use 24lbs of thrust and it gets me where i need to go but i wish i had more especially on windy days,so i would buy the highest thrust your budget will allow.as for maximum size the bigger the better
