I want to go to a certain event in Scotland, but I live in another country, on another continent. However, I am unable to purchase the tickets when they go on sale online, and I know that they will sell out within hours.
My question is, how will I get tickets for this event after they've sold out?
Say from a scalper, or someone who has bought them and cannot attend.

You can buy tickets to concerts and sporting events from sellers on eBay or other sites but you need to be very careful. There have baan several sites in the UK that have sold tickets but the buyers have been let down because the tickets never arrived.

If at all possible try buying from the official retailer, if this isn't possible then buy them through an established and reputable organisation. If you by them this way you'll pay the real price.

Once the official tickets have sold out you'll find people selling tickets often at hugely inflated costs. If you do buy online then make payment by credit card through a third party such as Paypal. That way you'll have the safeguards provided by your card company and Paypal to fall back on if you don't get the tickets.

If you buy on eBay consider using an Escrow Service (it's explained in detail on the eBay website). Basically you send your payment to the Escrow company, when they receive it they tell the seller to send the goods (in this case your tickets), when you receive the goods you tell the Escrow company to forward payment to the seller. If you use this service and the tickets don't arrive you just ask for your money back. There is a fee for the service but I think it would be worth paying.

If people put things up for sale with a hiked up reserve then that is wrong. I recently sold concert tickets on ebay and published the price I paid for them as I was only looking to recover what I had paid (I ordered them in error while trying to get other tickets) What about the little sods that bought Nintendo Wii's and put them up for sale for hundreds of pounds over the retail price? Not a fair way to make cash but as stated if people are willing to pay for them it's not the sellers fault.

two ways, first go on-line to the newspaper and check classifieds .
Try E-bay for whatever country the event is in. Or the closet one. when you go to e-bay after you pick the category you are looking for, on the left u will see a column box with different things you can pick to scale down your search. One of them says ,"worldwide", click that and a drop down menu will appear, then click the country you want , read the rest of the choices then hit the research tab at the bottom of the colum. Good Luck. OR, have you tried the venue by phone?
