The panels on most mass production cars are made from mild steel.

The bonnet is made up from a number of pressed steel parts. The outer covering from a single sheet, which is stuck or welded to a framework for strength.

Although there are a number of other materials which can, and are used.
Aluminium is becoming more popular, apparently.

In the USA, especially, wrought aluminium is being used extensively for body panels, such as hoods. Also, aluminium spaceframes are being introduced into low-production vehicles, such as sports cars. Carbon fibre, glass fibre and plastics are also used, but not usually in mass production.

They are usually made from a metal material and are stamped. If the bonnet requires any additional stiffening, the stiffners are stamped and spot welded to the bonnet.

Usually aluminium, or plastic; depending on what type of car it is.
My car is a little unusual in so much as most of it is made from rubber.
( that last bit is untrue )!
Talking about the process itself, most large pannels for the car are pressed from a single sheet of metal ( or plastic ), so the same process can be repeated over and over again.

not sure about the forming process, but they are made from different materials. used to be just steel i think. but now also plastic and aluminium. some more expensive motors have even used carbon fibre.
