Balls of thread on the bottom end of the fabric keep jamming the machine and I think it's because the needle is too big for the thickness of the fabric? Is this correct or is there another reason why the thread is collecting on the bottom side of the fabric while sewing? Thanks!

a thin full incher because it easy to contain control of and will make no obvious holes in your fabric

You should use any size needle
