i think it's absolutely ridiculous for people to judge others on the fact that they are tattooed. i am a girl and i have 8 tattoos. i have 6 stars that cover most of my forearm, and 2 tattoos on the back on my neck. so yeah, theyre all pretty much visible.
i work for 5 attorneys as a legal assistant, and not once have i been told anything regarding my tattoos (the office manager had a problem with my tongue rings, but she got over it real quick). i don't wear suits to work, because i don't like them. i wear short sleeves all the time so you cannot help but see my ink. i like them and my bosses don't mind. that is all that matters to me.

A girl (or guy) shouldn't get a tattoo if they don't want one.
Conversely, they should get one if they want one. All other things don't apply.
As for jobs... you can find jobs that will complain about *anything*. Long hair, mustache, wrong kind of earrings, pants (on women),politics... I'm in a fairly well paying job - systems engineer - and somehow my ink didn't come up. Hell, I suspect some jobs would be *more* likely to hire someone with non-standard hair, piercings &/or tattoos. I know that I for one choose them first when in a retail-type situation. If all else fails, we'll have something to talk about.
And on relationships, I've been with my gf/wife for 17 years as of last week. She's had funky hair off & on the whole time, but is waiting until her BD this year for her first tattoo. Wooo, intelligent sexy chinese woman with ink, *drool*... um, I think I need a cold shower. I have work to do. :)

There's nothing wrong with tattoos. What you need to consider is, as you go thru your life and things change ... as they always do, is will what you put on your body have an effect on what you do. If you're getting into the business world, a tattoo can often be considered inappropriate for your position, especially if you are more involved in management. I'm sure you've never seen anyone with a job in a retail or business environment with purple hair. My employer's H.R. people would stop a purple headed job applicant at the door! It just doesn't reflect an image most employers want their employees to have.
Get a tattoo, but keep it tasteful and practical. There is some beautiful body art out there. But get a distasteful flaming skull on the back of your hand and you can expect to obtain equally distasteful employment.
You may also want to consider what the undertaker sees on your body as he preps you for your funeral when you're 75 or 80 years old ... HEY NOW!

Think about this: a tattoo that looks edgy and artistic today may look tired and dated in just a few years although I guess it could be modified with additional designs. I have a huge birthmark that covers one of my legs, so I don't want any more indelible marks on my body. However, I love to change my hair color because that's not permanent.
I know from personal experience that even conservative young guys are not turned off by girls with tattoos. It's just not a big deal anymore, even with employers.

No one should get a tattoo if they are doing it just because someone else said it was a good idea. You have to know what you want, and actually put some effort into thinking about what design/name/picture will be with you for the rest of your life. I have 4 and I can easily cover them up if I feel that I need to but also just as easy to let them show.

I don't think there is any reason a girl shouldn't get a tattoo I have seven of them and have never been refused a job five of my tattoos are visible if I am wearing a short sleeve tee, and I am always getting compliments on them from both men and women but its up to the individual

Ive got a tattoo on my foot so I can hide it when I need to for work.
Sometimes I wish I didnt because I will be a Mum one day and dont want to be bending over a pram with a big dark tattoo on my back.
Depends where you get them I believe.
Sometimes I look at beautiful looking girls who have gorgeous skin & have tattoo's over their arms and neck. It just wrecks their beauty.
But each to their own i guess.
The last thing I would want to do is regret the tattoo & have it removed like Angelina Jolie at $1000 a visit for laser and it looks ugly as

A girl should not get a tattoo if she has to come on here and ask what she should get. That goes for guys too. A tattoo is a life choice so choose wisely.

I DO NOT SEE WHY GETTING A TATTOO IS A PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS WHAT THE TATTOO IS. IF IT IS AN EX'S NAME BELIEVE ME YOU WOULD HAVE A HELL OF TIME EXPLAINING AND LYING TO YOUR CURRENT SPOUSE WHAT THE TATTOO IS ALL ABOUT.
IF YOU WANT A TATTOO GO FRO SOMETHING THAT WILL NOT EMBRASS YOU IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE.

tattoo's are a personal choice, its only people who stereotype everyone that judges. personally, I won't get a tattoo, although I really like them and think they do look great when they're subtle, I just don't like the idea that once it's there, it's there forever. It's art, you don't have to like it, just have to consider it.
