...are being treated over there? I know that there is a great deal of animosity felt by some people for geopolitical reasons...should I expect some degree of hostility from English people because they are strongly opposed to America's international policy?

It's been a couple of years since I have been to England, but when I was there, the people were amazingly friendly. Just be careful crossing the street. I think its a game to try and hit tourists... lol

In my opinion I don't think you will have any problems. There is always a chance you are going to run into someone who might dislike Americans, but there is a chance of that happening anywhere. Even in America!

Well I've got some cousins who are United Empire Loyalists (Like people in the DAR but from the other side) but they live in Canada. And my Uncle Abraham didn't much like Yanks but he's been dead for some 20 years. Otherwise all my Brit relatives are fine with you lot. And, fact is, I live in Texas.

Brits have had some unkind words to say about Americans since you threw all that lovely tea in Boston Harbour.

Even during World War II when the American Army was shoulder to shoulder with Britain against the Nazis there were people who complained that the Yanks were "Overpaid, oversexed and over here."

Seriously though, you're not about to be set upon by anti-American mobs nor harrassed by the average Brit.

They are too busy complaining about their own government and trying to figure out which stupid bugger they want to see as their new Prime Minister to blame you personally for America's stupid bugger in chief.

You will have a great time. I'm a Brit living in the US and having lived on both sides of the pond, I can assure you that as a tourist you will have nothing but great memories of your visit. Relax and enjoy your trip!

You have unnecessary fears. English people might be voluble on this site, but on the whole, they're lovely. Pay no attention to those who are just jealous and would absolutely love to live in the good old USofA. (Well, I would, anyway!)
