depends on what your trying to learn. if it is smaller words with less complex definitions, those tend to be easier to grab a hold of.
I would suggest use of school methods of expand your vocab. First, make flashcards with the word on the front and the defintion on the back. have someone show ou the word, and check if you said the right def. If this proves to be too boring, then try to use the words in your everyday life. usually, use of a more expanded vocabualry shows you have the IQ to understand that, and people tend to respect that. As for remebering them, just simply use them in stuff you do everyday, like i said. Use them for essays, for email, probaly not for AIM, but things hat tend to reflect back onto you. especialy school. Hope those help!

Read.

The best way to learn the vocabulary in any language is to read.

Find something challenging, but also something you enjoy reading. Keep a dictionary handy so you can look up words you don't know.

Once you learn a new word, the next step is to use it.

Small steps. If you do too much at one time it is harder to remember. If you are trying to add a word to your vocabulary set goals for yourself. I will use this word at least 5 times in the proper context today. Use the words!!!
