Any animals that are left in the sun outside, in a car they can die from over heating. All dogs that have to be kept outside should have adequet shade so they can stay cool. They should also have plenty of water. In the hot weather all dogs should be kept inside where it is cool. When it is hot do not take your dog for walks, hiking, or playing, because doing this will cause your dog to over heat and die. I hope this is good information. I breed golden retrievers and when it is hot out my dogs stay in and only go out to go potty and then they come in. You need to be careful with older dogs because they can over heat very quickly, but like any animal the sun is very dangerous.

They will die from heat exhaustion just as any living thing would. They should be kept in shade if not indoors and have plenty of water to drink at all times. If you know where there is a animal tied where it can not get out of the sun than report it ASAP...

Yes, dogs can get heat stroke and die. Dogs should never be without shade. Also if your walking your dog try to stay away from mid afternoon walks cause thats when the sun is at its hottest. I always walk my dogs in the evening in the summer, so they can enjoy their walk.

Yes they can get heatstroke in the sun, so you have to monitor them. And never leave a dog in the car on a hot day. Older dogs need air conditioners in the hot hot. They are much the same as humans but they get hotter faster. So never leave a dog in the sun.

Yes, if left in a car it is the same as a baby or a person. THe extreme heat will actually cook the internal organs.

Also, another concern would be dehydration.

They can. They're no different than you or I in that if their bodies take on too much heat and they are unable to lose the excess heat (in their case, by panting or moving out of the heat) then it can kill them.
