would the English Military send Prince Harry to Iraq when they themselves are bringing their troops back home....(on our TV the media has said that Tony Blair is reducing their number of troops in Iraq by drastic numbers and shortly all troops will be back on home soil....So, why send Prince Harry there, who is second in line to the throne)????

Don't think he will see any kind of action while he is there, but think about it....Do you see Bush sending his kids over there? They are too busy partying and going to school and stuff even though he is "so for" this war. Think it says something good about England myself. USA started it but the leaders in England are sending family. Shows commitment. We better watch out for them even though we are the supposed World Power.

Personally, .I think it's so that they can accomplish a few things:

1) Harry joined the service and wants to serve. Let him go for a month or two, "play soldier" and come home.

2) Later, when Bush freaks out that they removed their troops, they can say, "Look, we tried! We even sent our royalty!"

3) I think it's a publicity thing. It's got lots of people's attention. People are actually noticing the fact that the Brits are involved in the war now. Like I said, it's kind of a final "Hooah", only for the Brits.

I don't know if any of that's valid, but I think it's a relatively realisitc motive. Honestly, I don't know why they'd send ANYBODY when they're bringing everyone home right away.

Harri is 3rd in line, and onbly 20% of the UKS troops will be coming home this year.

And as fore WHY? the British monarchy has a long history of military service. This is no different.

Because Prince Harry's unit was next in line to go, and I am sure if he wanted to stay in England he could. In fact I bet some military and political members suggested he not go with his unit. I highly respect him for going, and not hiding behind the Royal Family.

Actually, he's third in line (I'm an American and know that!) - I'd say it's because his unit has been called; he doesn't want to look like his military training was a sham; the government wants to make a good show for the public - all of those.

I believe he is third in line. They decided to send his unit so he is going because of that. They are decreasing the number of troops but they have to rotate people iin and out.
