I wish I knew the answer to that. My ex claims to love our daughters but he hasn't seen them in almost two years, doesn't send gifts on birthdays or holidays, and doesn't even call them. I love my girls with all of my heart and cannot even begin to imagine how their dad cannot feel the same way. It is so sad.

Tis true...some parents are not capable of loving their own children. Children grow up learning by example. The parents who cannot love their children were not loved themselves and really don't know how. They also have other relationship problems be it spouses, siblings, even friendships. Most likely this is due to the type of upbringing experienced.
Sometimes jealousy is involved. For example if a spouse shows more affection toward the children. The partner becomes jealous of the affection and blames the children.

It's not that parents don't love their children. Sometimes parents have problems personal, financial and they put aside their children. I am not telling you that this is right, it's their fault and they should put their children on the top of their priorities.
OR parents might suffer physiologically and this is not something they can realize or understand. In this case they need help even from their children, if the children are old enough to support their parents with love.

I really don't understand the question. Why in the first place would you have chidren if you weren't going to love what you have created as a couple out of love for each other.
Yes their are people who just have children out of love but how can you not love that precious little baby,it's not their fault they were brought into the world.
I really feel for those people who are trying so much to bring these precious little bundles into this world and i was one of these people 6 years ago. Really people like this don't deserve to have children at all.

Because they do not love themselves. When you love yourself, you can love others.
