It is more cost effective to manufacture the same ATM buttons for all machines. Since some ATM's need brail, they all get this feature. The same principle applies to televisions and the closed caption feature.

While I'm not blind...I have walked up to a drive up atm plenty of times. Just making sure all bases are covered.

You may never have noticed this before, but most cars have room for more people than the driver. And some of those extra people could actually be blind and have ATM cards.

Well, I'm pretty sure the blind person isn't driving. At least I'd hope not. But he/she may have a driver that drives the blind person to the bank so they can take care of their stuff.

-because keypads are all manufactured with braille regardless of where they're installed, it's easier that way.
