We often hear that there is no scientific evidence that God exists. Does anyone have any scientific evidence that God doesn't exist?

If you are trying to come to a scientific proof that has two possible outcomes and investigation of one of those outcomes is inconclusive, then the other outcome must come to a observible and repeatable conclusion in order for the proof to be valid.

A lot of you seem to have got the wrong end of the stick - I am not trying to prove the existance of God. I would be just as daft as the people I am asking about if I were to try that!

As you have pointed out you could ask the same question about bogeymen, peter pan, invisible pink unicorn or santa clause. I must have missed the discussions where they were brought up :-)

My question is really why do people (either for or against the existance of God) try to bring scientific method into a discusion which science can neither proove or disprove?

Sorry I can't give thumbs up for any of your answers (there are a few that deserve it) I'm still just level 1

No, of course not. There is no such thing. Lack of evidence cannot constitute 'proof' for the non-existence of anything.

All 'proofs' for or against the existence of god are philosophical. Some of the philosophical arguments against may contain scientific truths or theories, but that's not the same thing as a scientific proof.

The reason people quote science is more to do with the bible. The story in Genesis logically contradicts much scientific knowledge and theory. Consequently such 'evidence' is often quoted against the 'the Bible is the Word of God, so it is all true' argument. While the inaccuracy of the bible may undermine the idea of God, it does not disprove it.

I can provide you with both a philosophical proof that God cannot exist, or a biblical quotation that says we should dismiss scientific theories. Which one you accept, if either, is down to you. But either way, I'm not proving anything.

Science can't prove a lot of things untrue but that is not what science is about. We seem to see science as cold and calculating but in fact it is far more human than any religion. We use our five senses to try and figure out the world we live in. Just like humans, science gets it wrong from time to time and when that happens it learns from its mistakes and grows from the experience. Religion, on the other hand is seen by its many denominations as conclusive, something that does not require questioning but a set of rules to be followed like instructions inputted into a machine. To me, that is far less human.

So, do I need to prove God exists. No, because I celebrate my humanity for what it is and don't demean it by describing it as some test to pass to see if I am good enough to make it into heaven. I look around me at all the beauty and destruction and hope and despair and believe that this is our heaven whatever we make of it..

Wow. seems such as you comprehend all of it; why ask the question? possibly it truly is via fact which you're incorrect? God does communicate to fashionable men, me risk-free. and extra than a number of alternative different individuals i comprehend. Granted, never on national television. So? there is means info interior the mathematics of the Universe itself. Physicist engaged on the macro and micro scales (Cosmology, and sub-atomic physics) are seeing something interior the mathematics that seems very very corresponding to God. no longer info yet, yet, if the paintings keeps because it has, it ought to ensue fairly quickly. The resurrected Jesus seem to a minimum of something over 500 people. there is sparkling info of the efficacy of prayer: in a city south of London, a small team amassed, and desperate to desire for their afflicted community. they did no longer tell anybody what they have been doing. approximately six months later, one among them got here approximately to be speaking to a cop, and a desirable fact got here to mild: for an inexplicable reason, crime had dropped by employing a million/2 over that factor. Now, crime does pass up and down, yet, this became statistically a approaches out of the conventional variations. the only ingredient that were distinctive became the prayer. As you're saying: and so on.... there's a lot extra.

It is very difficult to prove a negative
In this case it is impossible..... then again, it is impossible for you to scientifically prove that the invisible pink unicorn doesn't exist.

Basically you have to define god before you can prove it and - I can guarantee - that your definition of god is different to every other believer's definition - this is because your definition is changed by your religion, your culture, your education, your biases and your perceptions.
so - it's NOT a case of whether god exists or not, it's a case of, if YOUR god exists or not.

If I could - by some means -prove that to you that your god does not exist, that wouldn't mean anything to the billions of other belivers in god, gods or godesses.

If God exists then he chooses not to reveal himself directly to us , so we fall back on faith or simple belief based on what is perceived to be be his handiwork in the existence of the universe and everything in it .
The alternative view sees no necessity for a creator in the midst of every thing . God , as the divine author of everything would presumably be responsible for bringing pink fairies etc into existence , so those examples do not amount to much in the argument .
It is not self evident that their is no God . Existence however seems to tilt the chances in favour of some explanation beyond our rational abilities to explain the phenomenon of existence .

Evidence ie
DNA samples
Film Footage
Voice recording that correlate with gods voice.(Impossible, I know.)
Finger prints.etc
If anyone can produce something along these lines and a universal understanding of ourselves that can't be misunderstood, misinterpreted or manipulated for some greedy fascist dictator. Then i might reconsider Atheism.
Untill then the obvious answer is there is no god, because there is no religion, present and past, that can present a undeniable truth that can be understood by any who hear it.
A god would be like gravity or breathing.

You will not find anybody on here or anywhere else that can give you proof, there are lots of stupid answers, form some, but the thing that always make me laugh is the number of people on here who say stupid things about God, how stupid we are for believing in him, yet they spend so much time on a website about God, work that out, in truth they are seeking the truth about something they do not understand, but want to

if we do not believe that god exist....where will we go after we die???where are we before we are borned??and what happen when we die??where does our soul go to after that??soul spirits etc are name created by us,humans.Who invented languages?who creates or arrange the law of nature?our universe??or created by itself??somebody powerful must have created it cause it cant exist by itself...germs?who created germs...do belong to any religion might be ok..but do not believe the existence of god is not realistic.its the only easy way out not think so much about god just by denying its existence. We simply reason out that god not answering our prayer so it means god dont exist...how would you know?there is so many things in this world that humans still cant explain through scientific reasons...dont easily deny the existence of god just by using our small brains...what humans know is a drop of water...but what we dont know is like ocean wide..till now nobody can bring back the dead to life...cant create spirits or soul.so to me its neutral...believe in god will not harm you...same to not believing itself...if those question i impose cant be answered then maybe god exist....

No evidence of existence = someone made it up. That is universally true.

Does it mean that it is impossible, no. Does it mean that the odds of it are sufficiently low that it doesn't deserve consideration, yes. You would be stuck with a bunch of weird crap if you want to start believing what people make up.
