No, do they sentence the people over there for there crimes to our people? Not a chance! Since this war started, all you hear is how our soldiers did this or that to these people. booooo hooooooo. ITS WAR! ITS WAR!!! Its not like we are going to a brithday party. If we are gonna put are soldiers in jail for every thing that doesnt meet up with the our goverment then our goverment should bring our troops home. If people knew the half of whats really going on over there they would have to put all our troops in jail not to mention most of the people in our goverment.
But instead our goverment says lets make examples. Wow lets pat our goverment on the back and say good job! Hay, maybe we should send our troops over with toy guns and pretend that we are in a war. WAR, is about death and scary things not about playing scrabble.People die. just ask the familys of the american soldiers who gave there life all ready. Wait did any one get sentece to jail or death for killing our people? I never heard any news about these people going to jail.

If found guilty, of course they should be punished severely, and they will be.

I don't know a single war supporter who's said that it's just a part of war. There's no excuse for that behavior whatsoever. I've known too many guys who went to Iraq, did their jobs (and nothing more), and came home just fine. So far only one out of dozens (if not hundreds) has displayed any signs of mental instability. To be honest, that one wasn't exactly stable BEFORE he went. Iraq just made it worse.
Those guys are literally without excuse, if they're guilty. Going to Iraq doesn't mean that a person would absolutely go off the deep end, or start raping and killing innocent people.

Of course they should go to prison. We are not a barbaric country, he is just a sick child molester. The girl was 14, she was a child and more than likely a virgin. I think as Americans, we are held to a higher standard, so no, I don't consider it a "part of war" and those that say it is, let an Iraqi rape their 14 year old daughter. Guaranteed their views will change then!!!! This was someones daughter too.

The troops that ALLEGEDLY killed the Iraqi family and ALLEGEDLY raped a 14-year-old girl are all facing trial by court-martial. I can guarantee you they WILL get prison time, as well as various other door prizes, if they are convicted. Soldiers are not above the law, but they are still entitled to due process of law and the presumption of innocence until proven to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Just part of the war, my ***! These soldiers went into a home of a CHILD--yes, a CHILD!--tortured her and killed her whole family. They weren't terrorists. They weren't a threat to the US. They were average, innocent people!

It pisses me off that those soldiers are being sentenced to things like "100 years" and then I read a story where they are eligible for parole in 10 years. What kind of justice is that??? Let's let them stay there until their corpses rot. They are a shame to the US, a shame to the military, and a shame to humanity.

Soldiers are supposed to be brave, courageous defenders of justice. Not cowardly, child-raping monsters. Get a grip. People like that deserve to be tortured and then killed. No more or less than they would do to a child. Bastards.

Ah I guess most folks don't read the news... Sgt. Paul E. Cortez plead guilty to avoid the death penalty and was sentenced to 100 years in prison (parole eligible in 10 years). Spc. James Barker was sentenced to 90 years... and the other two are awaiting their courts-martial for the March 2006 rape and multible murder. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070223/ts_nm/usa_iraq_murder_dc_2;_ylt=AlF9yDpuHNi_.PKLqpNxyZ5sbEwB

Under the UCMJ they could have been sentenced to the death penalty... and personally I think they should get it.

I understand there are TWO incidents that involve Iraqi soldiers committing rape... that's up to the Iraqi government to investigate and prosecute.

Have they already been convicted? If so, then yes, they should go to prison. I'm a supporter of the war effort (not necessarily the manner in which it is being carried out) and I think that their behavior is inexcusable if true.

Of course they should -- when convicted.

The act was a barbaric, isolated incident that was swiftly and decisively investigated and punished by the military.

Let's just see how the Iraqi government handles their own soldier rape cases, and if they can do as well. I think it'll be a joke.

If they did it,then yes. This going to jail for 100 years is a joke, they killed a whole family and raped a child. Obviously jail isn't enough.

In world war one rape in the US Army was punishable by death. Soldiers were tried, sentenced and hung within a week. Rape is not part of war as it happens everyday and everywhere in peaceful society. "War" is a clever defence argument.
"IF" they are guilty then they should be punished severly for this atrocity.
