There are a few reasons I do and dont. I mourn for my friends and family that have passed and didnt know the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior. Those who I believe to have gone to Heaven I miss their wisdom, knowledge and times together. Memories are all you have left. You mourn differently for the person as well. My dad was probably the hardest for me to get over. I wasnt sure where he was with the Lord. Our pastor told me after he died that he had made his peace with the Lord. I will know one day soon. Peace out.....

It is a form of closure - saying goodbye. As they have gone to a better place we should really be rejoicing their life. If the mourning continues then obviously it is constantly missing the person or pet who has gone and sometimes it is not being able to 'let go'. At the end of the day it is just part of bereavement.

Because they loved the person who died. They know they will never see them again [ maybe in the afterlife if you believe in that ] but that is the end to the story. No more person you loved. So you mourn for a while, some longer, some forever. But you always miss them. That is why:)))

Because it reminds them of their own mortality, because they never did say the one thing to them that they should have done, because they will never see them again and they will miss the reassurance of their physical presence or the engaging nature of their personality. Either that or they owe them money.
