Many will try.
You can't try hard enough. Few will make it because they are the ones who discover the way to heaven is not by works, but by faith is Jesus.
Anyone can make it - if they accept it is by grace and not by works. Those who are trying won't make it.

You don't concentrate on making it into heaven, you concentrate on developing a relationship with Jesus the Christ. Scripture says that you must know him, and the word know in scripture means an intimate knowledge of. So if you concentrate on an intimate knowledge or intimate relationship with Jesus, you are in.
Jesus said we must be born again in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. Then he explains that you must be born of the Spirit. That is having the Spirit indwell in you.
Read the scriptures, and pray until you begin to feel that you and Jesus are one. It can happen. When you read the scriptures, try to learn all that you can about the people in the scriptures.
Get to know people intimately like Abraham, Joseph, Ester, Nehemiah, Job, David, Solomon, and Daniel from the Old Testament. Find out why God says that you could see the Spirit of God indwelled in them. Solomon's relationship came late in life when he realized that all his life had been meaningless.
If you get a Bible search program like Online Bible, which is free, you can search for everywhere in scripture that the name Abraham is recorded. Read all the chapters that His name appears. Try to build a short bio about Abraham. Then move on to Joseph and do the same thing. When you search for Jesus, look for Jesus, son of God, son of man, Messiah.
That is the way I started.
If you do not feel the Holy Spirit actively working in your life now, the more at one you become with scripture, the more at one you become with God.

There is a interesting story taught by Jesus. Once a farmer was carrying seeds to bow in his fields.Suddenly the seeds got scattered by the blowing wind. Some fell on the rock,a few on the brazen land & a few othe good land. On the rock seed could not germinate, on the brazen land germination took place but could not grow due to requisite water. Some seeds which got good land were able to develope themselves & grew properly. They were able to get all the ingredients properly.
This is the case which happen with us.It is true that any one can make it to heaven but we are not able to transform ourself to achieve our goal for one reason or another

The point is is that your not really supposed to try. Jesus also said you are saved by faith, not works. That means just believe, and from there on everything will fall into place- thats just how God works. If you try to make it to heaven it wouldnt be real, you wouldnt be trying to live a good life because thats the way God intended it to be, youd be trying to live a good life just to go to Heaven...Im sure theres more to it but thats all i can think of for now :-)

My best guess is that you have misquoted, and therefore misunderstood Matthew 7:13-14. "Enter at the strait gate for wide is the gate, and broad is the path which leads to destruction, and many choose that route; Because narrow is the way which leads to life and few are those who find it."
This isn't about trying. It is about choosing which path you will follow and which gate to eternity you will enter.

both concepts are correct...but you got the interpretation wrong
anyone CAN make it.... the door is open.
Jesus actually said many are called, but few are chosen.....so...what he meant was ... the door is really open to everyone....but the reason few are chosen, is because few will walk through the door, and accept Jesus and what he taught.
Many will try to get to heaven thorugh a different door...this will not work....
Jesus is the door......go through him....then, if you try , you will make it...

What Jesus was referring to here was not making it in a single incarnation.
The roman church did not like this idea so they excluded any scripture from the bible that supported the idea of reincarnation. This is what is meant by the term unless a man be born again of water.
It is not a reference to baptism as it is always misrepresented by organized religion. It is, and always has been a reference to reincarnation, or rebirth.
That is being born again and again till we eventually get it right.

You won't make it if you don't try...Jesus said, "Strive to enter by the narrow door..." (Luke 13:24)
